ISAPA 2019 Conference Housing

Stay With Us

The University of Virginia is happy to offer affordable on-Grounds housing for attendees of ISAPA 2019!

For conference attendees looking for an affordable alternative to a hotel, we are pleased to offer student-style accommodations in air-conditioned, first-year dorm rooms located in the Alderman Road Residence Area.

Accommodations

Guests will be housed in hall-style, air-conditioned student dorm rooms located in the Alderman Road Residence Area. These air-conditioned rooms traditionally house two undergraduates during the academic year, but are offered as single-occupancy private rooms to ISAPA guests.

It is important to note that this is not a hotel, but an economical, no-frills lodging option within a 15-minute walk to the Lawn. All rooms are hall-style with two lofted single beds, two desks, two dressers, and two wardrobes. The lofted beds are not ideal for everyone, so please consider this as you reserve these accommodations. Should you require disability-related or other medical accommodations, please refer to Disability-Related and Medical Accommodations, below. Bathrooms are communal by gender at the end of each hallway.

Each guest will receive a linen package that includes a bed pillow, pillow case, two sheets, a blanket, two bath towels, a washcloth, and a bath mat. A one-time fee of $20 per person will be charged for this package.

It should be noted that rooms are not equipped with hangers, irons or ironing boards, hair dryers, or area lamps (overhead lighting only). Guests are responsible for supplying additional amenities as needed, as well as personal toiletry items including shampoo, soap, etc.

University housekeeping staff will remove trash from the common areas and sanitize the bathrooms on a daily basis. Guests are responsible for removing their own bedroom trash to the appropriate dumpster at the conclusion of their stay.

Pricing and Availability

Dorm accommodations are offered at a rate of $41.00 per person, per night, which includes parking in the Stadium S6 lot. A one-time $20 linen fee will be added to your reservation. 5.3% sales tax will be added to the total payment.

Rooms are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Rooms are available for guests beginning Wednesday, June 12 through Thursday, June 20, 2019. Check-in takes place after 2:00 p.m. on the date you arrive, and all guests must check out no later than 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2019.

Reservations and Cancellations

Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis, and payment in full is due at the time you register.

All cancellations and/or changes to the number of nights and number of guests in existing reservations must be made no later than Wednesday, May 22, 2019 to avoid a penalty. A cancellation fee of one-half the nightly room rate ($20.50) will be applied for each night cancelled after Wednesday, May 22, 2019. Cancellations made after Thursday, May 30, 2019 are not eligible for any refund.

You must use the Change and Cancellation Form for Individual Housing to submit any changes or to cancel your reservation. Be sure to select "ISAPA" in the Conference Name dropdown.

Disability-Related and Medical Accommodations

Dorm-style accommodations are not ideal for everyone. Beds are lofted and most can only be lowered only as far as 36” high, which is higher than a typical bed.

While all of our residence halls are accessible, there are a limited number of ADA parking spaces near the dorms. Most accessible guest parking is not immediately adjacent to the accessible entrances of the buildings. It takes approximately 15 minutes to walk from the Alderman Road Residence Area to Newcomb Hall, where the conference will take place.

Should any member of your party require a special disability-related or medical accommodation during your stay, please be sure to fill out the Special Requests and Medical Needs section when you register, including the name of the guest and as many details as possible. We will do our best to make any necessary accommodations. If you have questions, please email us at conferences@virginia.edu before you register and we will get back to you with answers.

Please see the University's accessibility map for the Alderman Road area.

Parking

Parking for guests will be available in the S6 lot near Scott Stadium. This parking is located about a 10-minute walk from the Alderman Road Residential Area.

Limited ADA parking is available near the residence halls on a first-come, first-served basis. Also see the University's accessibility map for the Alderman Road area.
